The UAT awarded the Honorary Doctorate to Marvin Perry, President of the Black Board of Directors Project, on Saturday, April 28, 2007 during the university commencement.

Dr. Marvin Perry selected as a 2008
co-recipient of the Arizona State Bar
of Arizona's Award of Appreciation.

Ronald L. Barnes, development strategist for Steer Davis Gleave, has been selected for the 2011 Dr. Lincoln J. Ragsdale, Sr. Outstanding Director Award. This award is named for the late Lincoln J. Ragsdale, Sr., who was an outstanding businessman and gave generously of his resources for the betterment of humankind. It recognizes a person at the senior level of his career and has likewise given generously to society through civic involvement.

Barnes has been heavily involved in civic affairs. He has served on the boards of Junior Achievement of Central Arizona, Mesa Arts Center Foundation, Maricopa Association of Governments Transportation Policy Committee and City of Mesa Transportation Committee as Chairman.

Previously, his board memberships include Fifth-Third Bank, United Way of Franklin County, Western Resource Historical Society and American Public Transportation Association as Chair.

He earned a BS in economics from North Carolina AT&T and is a native of Farmville, North Carolina. He resides in Mesa, Arizona and is an avid golfer.
